What
is CEREC?
CEREC is an acronym for
Chairside Economical Restoration
of Esthetic Ceramics. CEREC is the brand of
technology we use for ceramic fillings and crowns. Using
this, we can efficiently restore damaged teeth using
this tough ceramic material
that is matched to the natural color of other teeth in your mouth.
What
can
ceramic
restoration be used for?
What
are the advantages
of
ceramic crowns & fillings?
First, it is performed in a single
session, usually about an hour. There are no
uncomfortable impressions to make; we don't send
anything away to a lab. You won't have to
come back for a second appointment.
Second, the restoration
looks natural, because the material is made
of tooth colored ceramic. It’s metal-free—no silver fillings! The ceramic material is compatible with
tissue in your mouth and is high-grade, anti-abrasive
and plaque-resistant. Because we can be
extremely precise, we save more of the healthy part of your tooth.
What is the process?
First,
we apply reflective
powder directly on the damaged tooth’s surface. We
then take an optical image photo of the tooth with a special camera.
From this photo, we make an impression of the tooth.
Using Computer Aided Design
(CAD) technology
we design the restoration from the optical photo while
you watch.
With CEREC, we can create a very precise restoration.
Using a high-speed diamond
bur and a disk we mill the restoration out of a
solid block of ceramic material and bond it to your tooth with adhesive dentistry.
CEREC technology has evolved and
improved with over a decade of experience and research.
Over four million restorations worldwide have been
performed.
